How to create a Pinterest business account and give your Pinterest manager access through Business Access
Quick Answer

To create a Pinterest business account, go to pinterest.com/business/create, enter your email and password, fill in your business name and website, and select your goals. The entire process takes about 5 minutes. If you already have a personal account, you can convert it at pinterest.com/business/convert without losing your pins or followers.

To give your Pinterest manager access, go to Business Manager in your account settings, click Add Employee, enter their email address (for 84Pins, use design@84pins.com), and assign them the Publisher role. You never share your password.

If you are working with a Pinterest manager or agency, or planning to, the first step is always the same: you need a Pinterest business account. Personal accounts do not have the features needed for professional Pinterest management, including analytics, Rich Pins, and the ability to grant access to other people without sharing your password.

This guide covers both paths (creating a new business account from scratch and converting an existing personal account) plus the exact steps to give your Pinterest manager secure access to your account.

Why You Need a Business Account

A Pinterest business account is free and gives you access to features that personal accounts do not have. According to Pinterest's official getting started guide, business accounts include:

  • Pinterest Analytics to see how your pins perform, who your audience is, and which content drives the most clicks
  • Rich Pins that automatically pull updated information from your website (prices, descriptions, availability)
  • Business Access to add team members or agencies without sharing your login credentials
  • Ad access if you ever want to run promoted pins (optional, not required for organic growth)
  • Website claiming so Pinterest connects your site activity to your account and shows your profile picture on pins linking to your domain

If you are planning to use Pinterest for your business in any capacity, whether managing it yourself or working with a service like 84Pins, a business account is the foundation.

🔗 How to Boost a Pinterest Business AccountOnce your account is set up, here is how to grow it from any starting point.

Option 1: Create a New Pinterest Business Account

Use this option if you do not have a Pinterest account yet, or if you want to keep your personal and business accounts separate.

1

Go to the Pinterest Business signup page

Open your browser and go to pinterest.com/business/create. This is the direct link to create a new business account. Do not use the regular Pinterest signup page because that creates a personal account.

2

Enter your email, password, and age

Use your business email address (the one associated with your company, not a personal Gmail). Create a strong password. Enter your age to confirm eligibility. Click Create account.

Important: The email you use must not already be connected to an existing Pinterest account. If it is, use Option 2 (convert) instead.

3

Fill in your business details

Enter your business name exactly as you want it displayed on your Pinterest profile. Select your business type from the dropdown (for example: Online retail, Professional services, Blogger/Creator). Add your website URL. Click Next.

4

Select your goals and interests

Pinterest will ask what you want to accomplish (for example: drive traffic to my website, grow my brand, sell products). Select the options that apply. Then choose a few topics that match your business. These help Pinterest understand your niche. Click Done.

5

Your account is live

You now have a Pinterest business account. Pinterest may show you a guided setup wizard. You can follow it or skip it and proceed to claiming your website (covered below).

Note

New business accounts can only be created from a desktop browser as of 2026. If you are on mobile, switch to a laptop or desktop computer for this step.

Option 2: Convert Your Personal Account to a Business Account

If you already have a personal Pinterest account with pins, boards, and followers, you can convert it to a business account without losing anything. Your pins, boards, followers, and profile all stay the same.

1

Go to the conversion page

Visit pinterest.com/business/convert while logged into your personal account. This is the official conversion page from Pinterest.

2

Confirm your business information

Enter your business name, select your business type, and add your website URL. This is the same information as creating a new account. Click Next.

3

Select your goals

Choose what you want to accomplish on Pinterest. Click Done. Your personal account is now a business account with all the business features enabled.

Important

Your personal account must be set to public before converting. If it is set to private, go to Settings and switch it to public first. For the full details on the conversion process, see Pinterest's official help article on getting a business account.

Claim Your Website (Highly Recommended)

After creating or converting your business account, the next step is to claim your website. This is how Pinterest verifies that you own your domain. Claiming your website gives you access to analytics for all pins that link to your site and adds your profile picture to those pins.

1

Open your account settings

Click the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner of Pinterest. Under your account name, click Settings. Then click Claim in the left sidebar.

2

Add and verify your website

Enter your website URL and click Claim. Pinterest will give you three verification options: add an HTML tag to your site header, upload an HTML file to your server, or add a DNS TXT record. Choose whichever method is easiest for your setup. If you are not sure, the HTML tag method is usually the simplest. Once verified, your website is claimed and linked to your Pinterest account.

How to Give 84Pins Access to Your Account

Once your business account is ready, you can give your Pinterest manager access through the built-in Business Access system. This is secure because you never share your password. The person you invite gets access through their own Pinterest account, and you can revoke it at any time with one click.

84Pins email for Business Access:

design@84pins.com

Use this email when adding 84Pins as an employee in the steps below.

1

Open Business Access

Log in to your Pinterest business account on desktop. Click the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner. Under your account name, click Business Manager.

2

Click on Employees

In the left sidebar of Business Access, click Employees. Then click the Add Employee button (it may also say "Invite employee" depending on your screen).

3

Enter the 84Pins email

In the email field, enter: design@84pins.com

Click Next.

4

Assign the Publisher role

On the permissions screen, check the Publisher box next to your profile. This allows 84Pins to create pins, manage boards, and publish content on your behalf. Click Next, then click Send invite.

5

Done. We accept the invite and get started.

84Pins will receive the invite and accept it. You will get a confirmation email from Pinterest when the invite is accepted. From this point, we can start designing and posting pins to your account. You remain the account owner and keep full control at all times.

Your Account, Your Control

You stay the account owner. You can log in, post, edit, or remove anything whenever you want. If you ever want to remove access, go back to Business Access, click on the employee, and click Remove. Their access is revoked immediately. For more details on how Business Access permissions work, see Pinterest's official guide to Business Access roles and permissions.

What Happens After You Give Access

Once 84Pins has access to your account, here is what to expect:

  • We review your website, products, and brand to understand your business
  • We research the keywords your audience searches for on Pinterest
  • We design custom pins using your brand colors, images, and content
  • We begin posting 3 to 24 pins per day depending on your plan
  • Your first pins are typically live within 7 days of onboarding

The entire onboarding process requires about 10 minutes of your time. After that, everything is handled by our team. Learn more about how the 84Pins process works, or see the results our clients have achieved in our case studies.
